Castle Mountain Resort
Alberta’s powder-led, locally owned mountain of long fall-line descents.
The short answer
Who should put
Castle
on the shortlist?
Advanced skiers and powder hunters who value eight alpine bowls, sustained fall-line terrain and local character more than fast lifts, luxury lodging or polished village life.

Sources & forecast assumptions
SnowSays publishes the shared forecast used here and on SnowSays resort pages. Weather icons, temperature and wind come from MET Norway for the selected mapped elevation. Symbols describe representative conditions in each period; conditions can vary. Temperature ranges and wind maxima use available model samples. All times are local to the resort.
New snow comes from Environment and Climate Change Canada at the same selected approximate lift elevation. Each snow amount covers exactly the start and end shown in its column. Short periods use complete HRDPS hourly data. Longer periods use matching HRDPS, REPS or GEPS windows; ensemble values are medians with 10th–90th percentile ranges. These ranges describe uncalibrated model spread. Snow is estimated at a fixed 10:1 snow-to-liquid ratio. Missing hours, unmatched periods and failed quality checks remain unavailable.
When ECCC predicts precipitation, that precipitation type takes priority over the general MET sky symbol. Snow on the ground requires a verified resort report. The 48-hour view shows the next 48 hours; the seven-day view uses seven consecutive forecast periods. Lift coordinates: OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL); elevations: Natural Resources Canada. No altitude correction or measured local accuracy is claimed.
THE LASTJOURNEY
MATTERS
Flying in?
Airport
to resort.
Cranbrook is the closest practical Canadian gateway in our directory. The final leg may still be a substantial winter drive, so compare the full route and do not assume a scheduled transfer reaches the lift base.
- 01Price the complete route
Include checked ski baggage, the winter transfer and any overnight airport stop.
- 02Leave weather margin
Do not build a tight homeward connection around a long mountain-road transfer.
- 03Confirm the exact stop
A resort name can cover several villages, bases and accommodation zones.

Terrain at a glance
What the mountain
is like.
This is one of the directory’s larger mountains: enough mapped terrain to support several different kinds of ski day and make regrouping points worth planning. Use the official trail map to identify the best sector for each ability before setting off.
Green, blue, black and double-black ratings are relative to this mountain, not a promise that the same symbol feels identical elsewhere. Translate the signs →
Directory figures help orient the map but are not the official operational count. Use the resort’s own current trail map and status.
Official piste / trail map
Use the map
the mountain publishes.
The resort’s own map is the clearest source for named runs, lift connections, boundary markings and current mountain terminology. It opens from the official source, so Canada Ski Hols does not edit or re-host a copyrighted copy.
Where the week happens
Choose the base,
not just the bed.
Start with the lift location, then compare genuine on-mountain lodging with the nearest useful town. Check the walking gradient, parking, shuttle hours and late-arrival arrangements before choosing a cheaper-looking room.
- EASIEST FIRST VISIT
- Choose the actual lift base for first tracks, or a nearby town when dining and accommodation choice matter more.
- CHECK BEFORE BOOKING
- The exact lift, shuttle stop, walking gradient and late-arrival procedure.
Let today’s mountain information win.
Lift status, the official trail map, weather, avalanche closures, prices and opening dates change. Canada Ski Hols supplies planning context; the resort supplies current operations.
